Macarons are a little taste of sugary heaven!
Unlike most other foods the colourful meringue biscuits have attained cult like status. Like foie gras from Gascony, champagne from Reims and wine from Provence, popular sellers such as Laduree and Pierre Herme are now able to sell boxes of these French culinary classics at the price of perfume.
According to Larousse Gastronomique the origins of macarons can be traced back as early as 1791 to the French monastry of Cormery. No longer a monastic secret today this heavenly delight is revealed to all, and is available in array of colours and flavours.
